  • Q. Who is it for?
  • Simple…..Freebaye is for anyone who wants to find a new home for an unwanted item (not a live one we hasten to add) and for anyone who is looking for an item. In a nutshell, if you’re looking then Freebaye should be the first choice of where to look as none of the items cost anything!
  • Q. How do I register?
  • Go to the home page and click on the link that says ‘don’t have a password’.
  • Q. What information do I have to provide to register?
  • There are some simple details required if you want to register but no more than usual. Your details are not passed onto 3rd parties.
  • Q. Is it really free?
  • Yes. There are really no catches. The only cost you will need to take into account are for travelling to collect your item.
  • Q. How do I register an item?
  • Once you are registered just go to ‘my freebaye’ and follow the simple instructions.
  • Q. How do I register multiple items?
  • Essentially, the same way you register one item. The difference is that you will be sitting at your pc for a bit longer!
  • Q. What can it do for me?
  • - Quite a few things really so here’s some for starters:
    - It can help be a little greener in the way you dispose of unwanted items.
    - You could avoid sitting in a queue at your local rubbish tip.
    - Maybe it’s something too big to fit in your car to take to the tip.
    - You will probably save time.

You probably have a few more we haven’t even thought of.
  • Q. If I put an item onto the site, how much of my personal information is seen to the public?
  • Just the street/road and the area. If someone is interested in an item you have advertised, they communicate with you through our website unless you voluntarily pass them additional information. They will of course need to collect from you but you only pass your house number/name & telephone number once you are satisfied with the enquiry.
  • Q. What can I put on there?
  • Anything legal and nothing which is hazardous or has, or used to have a pulse!
  • Q. Is it an auction?
  • Definitely not. Nothing is bid on and is simply treated as a 1st come, 1st served basis although it is completely at the discretion of the person with the item who they decide to have it.
  • Q. How do I win the item?
  • You firstly express you interest to the individual through Freebaye. If that person still has the item available & they want to communicate with you they will. Please remember that this is a free service so please don’t assume the item is yours if you express an interest as there might be more than one of you who want it.
  • Q. When I have won an item, how is transaction concluded?
  • Once the advertiser agrees for you to have the item, this is marked accordingly on Freebaye. You will of course have a limited amount of time to collect the goods unless a mutually convenient timescale is agreed.
  • Q. Is there a limit on how many items I can bid for?
  • Not at all but surely you don’t want everything do you??
  • Q. Is there a limit on how many items I can put on the site?
  • Again, there’s no limit but surely you don’t want to get rid of everything do you??
  • Q. What are the benefits of using this site instead of taking my items down the tip?
  • Well certainly the time limits unless you know someone incredibly kind who would load up the car and take it to the tip for you, not to mention replace the petrol!

But these are just a couple. How about the environmental and ecological issues? If your unwanted item is being given a 2nd life then doesn’t this make sense? The typical recycling process for many things is a great way to help our world but without the need to create the recycled goods by using machinery and therefore emitting something horrible into the atmosphere, surely this must be the 1st choice.

Anyway…. we’re not here to preach. We just wanted to get something going that everyone could use!
  • Q. What is Freebaye ethical policy and view with regard to recycling and environmental sustainment?
  • It’s good and we support it! We’re not into long ‘windy’ statements. We know Freebaye makes sense and we guess you do too, so go for it.
  • Q. Does the site operate in partnership with any 'green' agencies, government or otherwise?
  • Not yet, although we have had verbal support from two or three local authorities in the area not to mention our local Business Link. We are always happy to hear from any one of the above though.
